Heatherwood School comprises 3 sections:
- Junior School. (Years 7/8)
- Middle School. (Years 9/10)
- Senior School. (Years 11/12)
Years 7-10
In the Junior and Middle School, students undertake the Victorian Curriculum, with a core focus on building Literacy, Numeracy skills, and Personal and Social capabilities.
As part of the core curriculum, students undertake English, Mathematics and Humanities.
Students complete a range of specialist subjects:
- Science
- Digital Technologies
- Food Technologies
- Outdoor Education
- Physical Education
- Visual Arts
- Protective Behaviours
Students also engage in a range of educational excursions, activities and camps throughout this time. Excursions and camps are designed to expose students to a range of experiences while building personal skills and capabilities.
Years 11 and 12
In Senior school, students’ final years, they undertake the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). The VPC focuses on 4 core areas:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Personal Development Skills
- Work Related Skills
The VPC is designed to build student knowledge and skills in key areas necessary to function as an adult and within the workplace. Work undertaken within the classroom has an applied learning lens and incorporates real-world components, supporting our students to become productive members of society.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Heatherwood School operates as its own Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Students in years 10, 11 and 12 have the ability to gain valuable VET qualifications. We currently offer these VET courses and certificates (Full and partial).
