Heatherwood's Enrolment Coordinator works closely with parents and schools to make the transition to secondary school a positive and supportive experience. After an initial group tour, if you would like to proceed with enrolment, you will need to provide a Cognitive Assessment (dated within the last 2 years) and a Teacher Vineland Assessment (dated within the last 12 months.) Your child's current school will also need to submit a SS DCV (Special School Disability Category Verification) form and forward the outcome email to our Enrolment Coordinator. You may then be invited to attend a one on one session with the Enrolment Coordinator to discuss the specific needs of your child. The Enrolment Coordinator will visit your child's current school to meet with your child's teacher and any other relevant staff. Discussions will include strengths, opportunities and interests and this information will be passed onto Heatherwood School staff. Documentation will also be collected including your child's current IEP, most recent school report, SSG minutes, assessment data and any other plans that may assist facilitate a smooth transition. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
