Student Support Groups (SSGs) play a vital role in promoting student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement. They help ensure every student is supported to access the curriculum, build resilience, and reach their full potential within a safe and inclusive learning environment.
In 2026, we will be holding one Student Support Group (SSG) per term. The Term 1 SSG meetings for all Heatherwood School students will be held on:
- Wednesday 13th March 3.00 - 6.30pm
- Thursday 19th March 3.00 - 6.30pm
These 30-minute SSG meetings provide the opportunity to meet with the teacher and to discuss your child's Individual Education Plan. Your participation in the SSG meeting helps ensure collaboration to support your young person to achieve their best. It is also a key opportunity for you to have a voice in how we plan and deliver this support, including any adjustments your child may require.
This year, our specialist teachers will also be available for bookings. These meetings will run for 15-minutes to allow for bookings across all sections.
Bookings for the SSGs will be open Wednesday 25th February. Only one booking per classroom teacher is available. You can also book a time with the specialist teachers.
To assist with our planning, it is important that you contact your child's classroom teacher to confirm whether you will be attending the meeting in person or prefer to meet online via Webex. Both options are welcomed, but we do require this information in advance to ensure meetings are set up accordingly. Please also liaise with your external therapist if you would like them to attend the meeting.
Kind regards,
Karlie Gooding
